Journey is the most dynamic and well-organized theater arts organization in our area. It has an amazingly talented and encouraging teaching staff who provides the most exciting and welcoming atmosphere students will likely ever experience.
Journey provides an environment where kids blossom with courage and creativity, feel loved and mentored and build life-long skills.
Journey at School is a uniquely crafted program that we can take into schools to help introduce students to the joy of performing arts. It is both educational and enjoyable; an excellent introduction to the world of theater.
Due to restrictive budgets in our local schools, many school districts have had to cut back on the elective classes they offer. Fine & Performing Arts classes are some of the first courses to be removed. Studies have shown, however, that beyond supporting academic achievement, theater arts help students develop confidence, leadership skills, a sense of community and citizenship. Journey at School endeavors to provide these life-skill building opportunities to students within the comforts of their schools while being offered as an extra-curricular activity.
Whether offered as a substitute for performing arts classes or offered as a fun extra-curricular program to help support working parents, Journey at School is a wonderful option for after school activities!
Here’s how it works:
Theater Arts instruction is offered during two 90-minute after-school sessions each week. Students will learn fun theater games, singing, dancing and character development from highly skilled, enthusiastic teachers (many of whom are graduates from our Journey Theater programming and/or are regular instructors for our full Journey Theater program). For six weeks, younger grades (1st-3rd) attend one of the sessions, while the older grades (4th-6th) attend the second day. In week 7 and week 8, students participate in combined classes for both sessions to put their showcase program together and polish it for performance. A free public performance is given at the end of the 8 week session.
Journey curriculum is based on visual and performing arts content for First through Twelfth grade.
